Hello, I was contacted recently about a German dagger and sword. He told me the German pieces were brought back by his uncle. He then offered me his combat survival knife that he carried on 180 bombing missions mostly over North Vietnam about 1971 off the carrier Saratoga flying an Intruder. That along with his never used chute cord cutter. He was kind enought to show me his two flight jackets. He was a member of the Sunday Punchers. He explained the alum metal jacket on the sheath was to prevent the knife from ripping thru the leather on ejection bailout. Best, Bill

    Bill,
Those are some very nice items and having family history behind
them makes them even better. That was a very nice gesture on your uncle's part
    to give them to you.

A few years ago, there was a local man who passed away that was a A6 pilot.
During his funeral there was a low altitude fly over of three Intruders. It was
very impressive to see (and hear).

    Bill,

Great finds and the history behind them even better. The modified sheath is really interesting. Don't recall seeing one modified this way before, not the aluminum cover but the sheath design itself doubled over leather loop and new double snap closure. Nice jackets telling the story of his service. My dad was in VT-26 so seeing that VT-24 patch brought me back to NAS Chase Field, TX. T-2 Buckeye days.
