The man in the middle.. Is he a Pathfinder? It's hard to tell but looking at the patch on his pocket looks like the torch and wing patch you see in some photos of Pathfinders.. Sorry for taking this offtopic but I'd really like to know.

    Hi René

    Superb collection.

This is a great learning lesson on US military uniforms and all sorts of embellishments during the transition period from 1945-1963.

Lets start with the Wagner HBT, has the 1951-54 period chevrons (embroidered olive drab on dark blue twill), after the short lived goldenlite 2 inch style.

The 1953 woven US Army coloured Branch tape (this does not mean to say it was worn Korean War ).

The white name tape and jump wing Id guess mid to late 50's into 1960.

Schwandt appears to be mid 50's, note the narrow Spec 4 (1955-59) which is a good dating period for WAGNER.

JAFFEE would be 1954 onwards re the then new cut edge gold on green chevron E-2. Fourth Army typical 50s extended khaki twill SSI.

Wonderful assortment of HBT and early OG-107 René.

I don't know what branch or who would of been issued ie US Army/US Army Reserve but this still happens today with the transition wear out date for uniforms. The US Army has gone thru BDU/DCU/ACU in 15 years ( to 2015)and you can still see the odd image of reserve or NG wearing out dated uniforms.

    Yes he is a Pathfinder.

Cloth Pathfinder badges were replaced in Oct 1969 with black metal and enamel metal badges.

He's wearing 1st pattern(? re the epaulet ) OG-107 Jungle Jacket maybe US made fully embroidered 1st Cav SSI say between 1966-68?

Schwarzkopf would have been a Major in 1965 during his first tour.

Another utility that's early with the star buttons and a lighter weight material and regretfully no tags!
