Re: Exciting dagger find from Finnish Lappland
I'm not sure but maybe it is a POW camp made item? Never seen anything like it before. Or just unfinished POW camp dagger?

Re: Exciting dagger find from Finnish Lappland
Yes I think that´s one real possibility. It has the appeal of a "survival" or jail made object. The interesting connection is the German greatcoat in which it was found. Wish it could tell it´s story..

Re: Exciting dagger find from Finnish Lappland
Could this be a blade from a Swedish M1896 bayonet??
Sweden - m/1896
Sweden did supply the Finish army with some M1896 Mauser rifle's prior to and during WW2.
If you are going to use the M1896 bolt handle to make a knife, why not use the bayonet blade also!!!
Just my 2 centavos!!!!!

Re: Exciting dagger find from Finnish Lappland
Are You sure the blade is factory made at all? I have seen some POW camp made knives from 1940-ies to 1990-ies and Your dagger remembers me these items.
