    Exclamation German Rune ring.

    I recently came across this ring. It's supposedly meant to be a World War 2, German, Wedding / Momento mori ring. It's Silver and 2.1 cm in diameter. it has been cleaned up. Can anyone offer me any info? I was told it was part of a job lot of WW2 militaria acquired in Spain, which is where I got it from. Thanks.

    looks like a ring that reflects the runic alphabet=don't think it has anything to do with a wedding ring.

    Thanks for your reply Horst.
    I've been told that Runic wedding rings were fairly common within the Wermacht and SS during the National Socialist period.
    Some of the Runes on this ring seem to have had a major relevance to the mind set and symbolism of the 3rd Reich;

    Pic 1. Sig Rune next to Tyr Rune. Sig = Victory. Tyr = Victory in battle.

    Pic 3. Hagall Rune = Faith in Nazism. Was also used on the SS Ehrenring worn by members of the SS.

    Pic 4. Wolfsangel Rune = Liberty and Independence. Widely used by the Party and the SS. Also used by the 2nd SS, Das Reich.

    Pic 5. Leben Rune next to Tod Rune. Leben = Life. Tod = Death.

    I think there's way too much Nazi symbolism on this ring to be a coincidence! Has any one come across anything like this before? Any ideas? Thanks!

    This ring looks to be trying to be an official SS Wedding ring, but the design is significantly different from the Hemmerle Company or Gahr Company made rings. I've seen these rings produced now for several decades and it is, unfortunately, not connected with German Military-much less SS.

    We can find a picture of similar SS wedding ring in Gahrs book but this one seems to be just a cheap copy.

    Hello mate. No markings inside, just wear marks. Cheers, Bil.

    Looks like a modern commercial ring to me.
    You can still get get these today as the runic alphabet, in itself, is not as frowned upon and it was used by the Vikings eons before the Third Reich came along.
