The craftmanship is very nice, although the story behind the item will for always remain a mystery..

Most likely made by a bored Finnish Soldier from Reindeer bone or moose bone , a nice item and well made

@ Frundsberg: Could be but I´ll have to do some research on it´provenance. It could theoretically also be made by a Finnish soldier but the swastika is of the german type. The model of the spoon is not Finnish at least not 20th century style.

Got the spoon today! Here are some better pics, looks like an item made by a skilled Saami "artisan" not the common soldier (or at least the work on the reindeer antler is). Shows some nice wear but sadly it has been cleaned so the patina is mostly gone .

Seems to be too well made item for a trench art. But as far I know also Austrians and Bavarians are very skilled artisans and have wonderful bone carvings.

Thats a good point! The rings on the handle and the model of the spoon actually could point in that direction. I´ll continue my investigations

Nice item. I'd guess that it is Saami made.
