    Evening guys , heres a mess tin lid i dug up in Estonia , i never relized the inscription was there until i cleaned it a bit more when arrived back in New Zealand , iv been told its called the cross of St Lorane , any ideas on it or what the words say , cheers Raymond

    Hi Raymond, it is French and translates as "Who rubs pricks himself".

    I think it has a religous connotation, most likely Roman Catholic, but this is a guess.

    I have done a little bit of research on this emblem. And it seems the rose and the cross have been used by various societies and religous cults. Known as the "Rose cross". Here is one of many different versions.

    I think that is a Lorraine Cross, maybe the lid was caputred by french resistance and reutilised?

    But this one was found in Estonia, probably this one belonged to one of the guys who was in the service in the SS- Flandern, no any French language are available in this area...

    Well guys thanks for your time and input. Youv just picked my day up , a couple of hours ago i missed out on 4 photos of a german soldiers funeral in the feild , id been waiting for this auction for a week and missed it by 2 minutes . The translation Ade made me laugh , so im not so grumpy now, and i think your right Dimas with the SSFlandern theory , so thats put me right , cheers guys , Raymond
