Just how can one be sure that carved wood is made during the war ? Dangerous field - it can be genuine or made a week ago. How can you tell when everybody can carve wood easily with a pocket knife ?

Got the stick after a while so this story has a happy ending. In this case the original finder, now an old man showed me to the site and I actually managed to pick up som Gebirgsjäger stuff att the same time . Planning a excavation for next autumn .
Cheers Jan
Very nice, indeed ! The provenance is important in things like that, because there is no other way to be sure about something that is easliy made. In this particular case, there is no place for any doubt, you were at the very spot, not in the fleamerket. Have a happy New Year and good luck in your further research.
