Re: U-261 Hipflask
Don't know why the picture does not want to show larger, but anyway, I think this is a not old, fantasy piece.

Re: U-261 Hipflask
Well I've had it for probably 6 years maybe a little longer, but it wasn't massively pricey and wasn't listed as anything special it was just an estate sale, loads of old furniture and the like. Also U-261 is the most boring u boat possible, it was only at sea around the Shetland isles for 7 months, in that time it made no attacks and was not attacked then it was sank of the coast by a lucky strike, surely you'd make a fantasy item to a more famous boat???

Re: U-261 Hipflask
So, this one looks like a fantasy, but who knows- today all fakes is handmade, why not to be a war time art? It's hard to say through, but I can say my opinion only by touching it myself.

Re: U-261 Hipflask
Hi Tom, sorry this is indeed a fantasy item made in Poland.
Cheers, Ade.

Re: U-261 Hipflask
I agree, I was only specualting, that if your going to make a fantasy Item, you make it to make money, so logically you choose a famous person or sub or whatever. However it is exceptionally well made, without being 'professional', and it has a German hallmark on the base.
