Wolhow sticks

Article about: Here's ours small collektion of trench sticks. The tradition to do such sticks is very old. In German army it was since WWI i think. But now they well nown as a "Wolhow sticks". Wo

    Yes it did come from Germany Juhan so your reasoning could well be correct , it could be a member of the Finnish Btl of Wiking who after the Finns returned to their own country in 1943 was moved to Nordland or the Estonian Divison !!

    I got yesterday a package from Germany... The stick is in perfect condition, looks like it was never used. Engraving is not the best but I still like it. There is just word Russland, nothing more.

    Good one, belonged to Estonian soldier, I believe, because germans called Viljandy - Fellin.

    I have one of these... Apparently, the owner was Luftwaffe (judging by the eagle) The swastika was, sadly, removed...
    Apparently, from the inscriptions, he was in "Russland", "Wolchowo", "Leningrad" and "kragnov... (can't read the rest)". Also has his (crudely engraved) inicials at the base.
    Looks i only have photos of two of the sides... :-/

    Just thought i'd give this thread a bump as many members may not be aware of Wolchow Stocks and othersd may have them in their collection and may wish to post examples .
