    Looks like they would have been used by telephone switchboard operaters?

    I couldn't tell, one set is missing a headphone, but apparantly the ear phones were held by some sort of straps.
    Looks to me like it was more in use in action; tanks , artillery reconnaissance of some sort....

    i was going to say it might have been Lieutenant Hubert Grubers armoured car headphones (but thats just silly )
    on a serious note i think it would have been telophone switchboard as the mouth think looks to have a strap that goes round the neck and dangles on the chestallo allo..

    Hey Tom,

    great reply!! We are almost there!!
    Finding a front view of such a operator would help....
    As the speaker and the ear-phone are attached to one an other on my set.

    build in 1944 from the factory Siemens-Apperatebau

    on picture two you see ´´Langsprechen´´ = for long speaking
    ´´Aus´´ = off
    ´´Kurzsprechen´´= for short speaking
