Hi Bill, Scout and Vegar, Thank you for taking the time to let me know your thaoughts. It is greatly appreciated and makes sense as it came with what I beleive to be a Swedish pistol holster and some German bits.

Like many 'oilers' from cold countries, the thing has 2 compartments or tubes for a cleaning solution and a lubricating medium-the British equivalent is just a tube for machine oil that's a fairly thin liquid for both jobs.
