Hey JP,
Sorry to hear that the book hasn't turned out as you would like.
I have just ordered mine from Amazon. Does the book cover Gasplanes?

Ian

Hello Ian,
There is a part of the text dedicated to Gasplanen in the Gasmasken part. Two Gasplanen are shown and several representative pouches as well...
Thanks

My copy arrived last week. Firstly, I do sympathize with J.P. - I too have been involved with research in the past, only to have the results flawed and compromised due to 'commercial expediency' and downright carelessness, so I understand his feelings.
But I do like this little book and it has found an immediate place on my militaria bookshelf - it deals with a subject which isn't well-covered in single-volume format. I agree the format is rather small, and I shan't be throwing away my collection of the original articles in Armes & Militaria.
But the book has already given me much pleasure ; there is much valuable information and the pictures, IMPO, are very useful indeed for the collector.
A nice selection of period photos, too ( I only wish there had been room for more ! ).
( And what is the story behind the battle-damaged Dienstglas on p. 46 ? )
Many thanks to J.-P. for all his efforts - and count me in for the 2nd edition......
And looking below that his first pouch is shredded too!!
Which means, yes, my copy HAS FINALLY ARRIVED ......YIPPEE!!
And I too must say a big THANK YOU to Jean-Philippe for a great handbook. Back in the 1980's when I was first collecting all we had was the 'uniforms and traditions' trilogy ( and really only part 3 was for equipment collectors ) so something like this would have kept up my interests so I didn't succumb to life's ( wife's ) pressures in the late 90's and sell it all.
Don't let the minor issues stop you from grabbing a copy - WELL worth a read I say!!
Regards, Dan

Hello Gentlemen,
Thanks to all for the kind comments.
Concerning the period photo introducing the ammo pouches part, i dont know what happened, but if our guy was wearing both ammo pouch and binos when they were hit, he's one of the luckiest soldiers ever...i have always been wondering if the breast pocket placed underneath the Hoheitsabzeichen was blood stained or not ?
For those interested, i still have several copies of the guide for sale (in english or in french)
Thanks
