    I just bought one of those dated 1939 a couple of weeks ago, cost $50 Canadian!, And no straps of course.

    77 US dollars is damn good bargain. If the phone works - even better. If the battery label is intact EVEN better! Let me know when it arrives and I can walk you through checking the phone to see if it works. A 1.5 volt battery adapter and a quick check of the Sprechtaste is needed. Typically, the handsets are the first component to fail due to cabling or microphones. The base components almost never fail. NH

    UPDATE:

    The phone arrived...
    Took some quick horrible cellphone pics of the battery: Thankfully, it's original factory "Element d (T-30)" with a 1942 date - in good condition.

    The battery looks pretty good. One in really poor condition just sold for 34 Euros on Fleabay. Have you tried connecting a modern 1.5 volt battery and testing the Sprechtaste on the handset? NH
