Hello,
Using the acronym DAK for this type of canteen is not correct. At best, it's a "coconut" tropical canteen. Very few of these were actually pictured in Africa. The real DAK canteen is basically the same than the continental one, but with web straps instead of leather.
The coconut canteen has been pictured in USSR, France, Italy, Netherlands, Belgium, Germany and in the balkans, most of these photos have been taken between 1942 and 1945. I see nothing wrong with yours. Concerning the bakelite cup, yours seems ok from the photos, but there are some good reproductions out there. The weight is usually the answer. Heavy it's ok, light it's not...
But if you want to be sure about the authenticity of the cup, there is a simple and quick way to find out.
Drop the cup to the floor, if it rebounds like a ball and comes back in your hand, it's a FAKE....
if it breaks in several pieces, then it was a good one...
(don't do it, this is an old militaria fair joke to scare sellers while handling their stuff)
Thanks
The sacrifice of life is a huge sacrifice, there is only one that is more terrible, the sacrifice of honor

Thank you for the info!
It's all good. The bakelite cup/becher is made by GFC Julius Posselt.
