I have not come across one with a stamped frame, normally its just the aluminium tag that coded dated etc,

Damien - thanks so much - just as I thought. So I am guessing the tag was deliberately defaced for post-war use. Does the green color look like Norwegian paint to you? Any thoughts on the canvas? Cheers, NH
