In any case, "Rommel" was not a unique name. One could even find "Hitler"s in the ranks. In this instance, the name looks to have been written in with a green ink ballpoint, which I somehow don't imagine was being used in the era...
Let's not forget Major Bernard Himmler (below left) as a case in point.....

'I do not think we can hope for any better thing now.
We shall stick it out to the end, but we are getting weaker of course, and the end cannot be far.
It seems a pity, but I do not think I can write more. R. SCOTT.
Last Entry - For God's sake look after our people.'

Looks like it was done with a green sharpie marker , last week sometime . Nice case , I'd consider blacking it out or attempt to clean it off . Unless Joe Rommel used this as a school bag .

Please guys stop asking, if this or that belongs to Hitler, Göring, Rommel, Himmler or other VIPs of the NSDAP. Nowadays you will never find items, which belonged to popular Nazis. Such items are in museums, in hands of oligarchic collectors or destroyed. Basta!

A very nice Map Case, nevertheless. To be enjoyed for what it is. Personally, as I've never seen ink so vivid in colour after 70-80 years and, I would think 'fake'.

Nice bag but to echo what has been said; that is in no way 1930's/40's ink. Cheers

I dont know, if its pure human greed or naivety, but some people still thinking, that they can find a second Mona Lisa on the flea market. Months ago a collector (not in this forum) asked me for real, if I can offer original personal items of Hitler. I answered, sure and I rent rooms in the Berghof residence too.
