    Hallo Gentlemen
This is my German folding shovel, and I want to share it with you. For some reason this one seems to be more easy to get hold on then the straight model

    Hope you like it

Yes they did. I actually think it fits in the american carrier. The patent is very good to dig in with. No wonder they wanted to have the same to their troops

    congrats...
the folding shovel is a fragile tool.
When carried with the bayonet on the belt, the standard frog is a pain in the @ss due to its length. The web frog and Late war simplified frog are much better.
    very nice items...
    thanks

OK - I know this is an old thread, but what is the 'real' story on the German tool having the angled front to keep the blade at an angle to the handle when closed? All the responders say this one is fine - yet it has a straight front edge ....
Have a look at whats being offered around the world at the moment - some straight, some angled - I'm getting more & more confused the more I search???!!!
    Help....

Hello Danmark. I am not sure if I understand your question? Which straigt edge do you mean? This spade come from a Norwegian homefront depot, and it is 100% german anno 1941. The spade is packed down, but I will digg it out if new pictures are needed.

    Best regards Arvid

    Hello Arvid,
In this photo the front edge is at 10 degree ( approx ) angle but I cannot see this angle on yours ( unless my mistake from photos ) I do not say yours is wrong, just that both types MIGHT have existed because I see others with straight front edge being claimed as original wartime?
