Hi, guys. I'm going to piggy-back on this thread as I also have a gas mask that I know nothing about. Purchased at a flea market for ten euros for both pieces. If more photos needed, let me know. I didn't think I would be posting this but might as well.

I agree tht the mask itself is what is called a radio operators mask....the attachment on the side was used to connect a cable to continue using a radio while the gas mask was worn

Your gas mask appears to be a normal issue Whermacht gas mask made of a canvas material....more pics would be great!

That's right, standard combat gas mask and can for the second one. Is the filter in the can?

Correctamundo .... the opening was to attach the microphone to. Some say these were Kriegsmarine issue???
Either way, the mask was a preparitory measure than thankfully was not needed. I wonder how many soldiers grumbled about having to carry around this clanking piece of useless kit on their backs?
