    Default Gasmask Civil ?

    Hello Forum
I have just bought this German gasmask with Filter, it is in good condition, it shoild be a 1939 model, do anyone have additional comments.

The rubber is in good, flexible condition. The eyes lenses are yellowed, and the eye lenses have byd Innen 39- on them. The green woven straps are still present, and the number 39 molded in the metal where to fix the filter.

    The Filter:
    Der Kampfstoff-Filter 455 ist ein
    getraenkter FE-37 fuer den Zivilschutz

Text on the round side of the filter:
Prüfstempel (Freie und Hansestadt Lübeck, Dipl.Ing.Gustav A.Rahe)
    Dräger-Kampfstoff
    Drägerwerk
    Dies Filter ist geprüft
    laut Rüfungs- Zeugnis nr 3008

    Draeger
    Lübeck 696840
Filter 455 schützt gegen Gase mit sauren Charakter (vgl. Einsatz B Din 3181) und
Vollstänig gegen Schwebstoffe (rauch und Nebel)

    Text on the top:
    Draeger logo on the filter

    Kenn- Nummer RL 1-38/5

Indeed a mask for civil-defense...Nice to see with that sealed filter! During an air-raid on Mannheim, my grandmother was told to put on a mask...and was panicked because she couldn't breathe, as the filter was still sealed as well...
    cheers, Glenn

The only reason she told me the story was because I brought a Luftschutz Gas Mask home one day as well, and it reminded her about that terrifying experience...
