Gasmaskendose Luftwaffe or Heer?
Hello forum,
I am currently researching this canister. It was listed as a Luftwaffe issued item but I cannot tell the difference from a Heer issue.
The Ink Stamp has faded so much I cannot read it. Press stamped 'PRESTAG 1936'
One of my first thoughts on this canister was that it was heavier than I anticipated! The allied equivalents were much lighter.

Two colors - an earlier Feldgrau and a later Feldgrau. It must have been reconditioned and re-issued. Feldgrau was a standard color for field gear. I don't know if it is possible to determine the branch of issue since the Luftwaffe field divisions received more standard Heer equipment later in the war but I will agree with Ade - Heer re-issue. My luftwaffe gas mask has the can painted Lw blue.
