I've always liked the Luftwaffe candle lanterns like the one of Tim's. They came in all sorts of configurations as far as the glass panels go. Some had 4 clear panels, some were all frosted, and some had 2 frosted and 2 clear. The one I have hanging around here has the 2+2 set up. The only annoying problem with them, is that the Candle size is obsolete, so finding candles to Fit into the holders are tough to do!
As for the bakelite Carbide lamp-they're not as sturdy as the steel ones from the Railroads (you drop the bakelites Once...!) but they were still used in great numbers and many of the Diggers I communicate with are endlessly excavating parts of them, so these little lamps were There and Much used everywhere! A great piece for anyone's collection, for sure. Have you ever lit yours yet?

I had a few of these lanterns, but I must say your example is in very good condition. They do pop up every now and then, I wouldn't say these lanterns are rare, and I sold my laterns for under 100 euros.
I even had one that my mother found while working in the garden. My parents live on the Belgian border, and their cottage was used by German soldiers during the war.

    Default Carbide lamps

I also love carbide lamps, they used to be pretty common here but now they are all but gone. I have them in the transit box which is hard to find...but when you do find them they normally have the metal partitions missing unfortunately. The boxed metal lamps have always been very hard to find here and was really pleased to get this set, they are in really nice condition.
    Hope you like them.

If your still after a Karbid container send me a PM as I may have a spare one here somewhere.
