German Can Opener (US "P38"-Style)
Here's an interesting example...Looks very much like the US Style Can Opener that was issued with the Field Rations...I don't know which one came first - The US or the German Product-...
Known as the "EXAKT", "Allein Hersteller" means "Sole Manufacturer"...

The French were the first to patent this type of device in 1912...The US didn't adapt them until 1942-43....

I normally do not get picky but this site is for historical reference. The P38 opener was conceived, designed and produced in 30 days (extremely fast for the US military) in 1942.

Pre- or during. However, "DRGM" means Deutsches Reichsgebrauchsmuster, actually. The term was used from 1891 to 1945.by BlackCat1982
