German canteen WAL 39

Kind of curious about this canteen. what is every ones opinion? Should I go for it? thanks!

Well, to be honest, not the nicest one I've seen

it a mix and match of different parts.... The cup doesn't fit very well, and the lid (with the small chain ?!?!) does not belong to this sort of canteen

Not a great set, and the price has to be very very low to get someones attention

All in all , not a desirable set, and I would pass

What do you mean by mix match of different parts? and what canteen does the cap belong to?

you can see the normal configuration for an early canteen here



The cap / lid you show probably comes from a political canteen (HJ etc)
the cup is a HRE, and the bottle is WAL, cover maker is not visible, but is defect, strap also unknown maker but the lid/cap is not on it like it should be (instead of fixed with a chain)

Ah yes! I see what you mean now. lol. They said the strap that held the canteen cap was cut. so perhaps they used a chain to fix it in a way?

Yes, the chain on the cap is a repair. This has to be cheap to make it worthwhile - under 50 US. NH
