Shovels or E-tools are hard I have been collecting them for about 50 years and there is not a lot of research on them besides Fish's old field gear book in the 80's. I have had all kinds I even had a abc as shown bought in about 1977. It was in a sewn German Carrier with ink stap inside strap that had german code and possible blurred ampt. I believe the abc are German however Fish's field gear book ID's them as Yugo WW2 shovels, I am skeptical about that. Some of the manufactures stamps are not even known today such as the so called Wolf's head or animal shovel. I can tell you I bought 3 about 15 years ago when Norweigen surplus hit the market and they were all in the green Norweign paint as shown in above thread. You are right they all follow the model 93 pattern or so and all the way through ww1 to ww2 in shape and manf techniques. There are a lot of kinds, and other countries copied them as well making the problem of ID worse. Germans also used a lot of captured shovels also. Maybe someone will write a good book on them and end all the contriversity. Myself and another guy have started a data base on them over at German Helmet Wallhala in hope this will help. The ones we show are all German WW2 some are surplus from the Norweign pile. Hope this may help. timothy

    Hi,

I am still waiting for it. I will remove the paint and look for markings.
It looks good to me and I used your photos for comparison.

Any feedback on that one - https://www.warrelics.eu/forum/equip...arrier-301803/

    Thanks,
