    Default German gas mask put togheter?

    Hello collectors;
    I've been offered with this gas mask setup; for what I know, the tube should be a '35/36 specimen, but is marked 1941 on the bottom, while the mask seems to have been made in '43. There is also a small piece of paper with name, rank and (maybe) unit of the owner, but dated 1942. The filter has an unknown (for me) red writing on it: would you please tell me what do you think about this "ensemble"? Maybe a luftshutz issue?

    TIA.

    Thanks Harry; what about the markings on the filter? Do they mean something for you?

    Üb. means Übung (training). Not suitable for real chem protection. Only for running through the woods under chem warfare conditions.

    It should be an early wehrmacht GM canister; maybe reissued to the rear echelon troops or luftshutz.
    I hope someone would translate the paper, it could provide more infos...

    Yes the canister is a 1935/1936 wehrmacht and a nice one at that.

    The paper, as far as I can read it:

    Obergefreiter Wolfgang ???
    2./L.B.B. 5 (probably Luftwaffen Bau Brigade V)
    Groß-???, Ost-Preussen

    Edit:
    I'm unsure about the LBB since the numbering don't fit Luftwaffen Bau Brigade.
    There 2-3 sites on the web, translating it as "Langbasisbeobachtung", but I never seen this term before (and I'm a reading the Tessin for entertainment ).

    Maybe someone else knows?

    Great! Maybe Luftwaffen Bau Bataillon (5) ?
    That kind of unit would explain the issue of a pre-war gas mask canister...
