Web does not look german, buckle as well...
Motorcyclist used the normal long strap passed around the neck...and i would be highly surprised if this item belonged to a german armored vehicle...
but i could be wrong of course...

A photo from motorcycle.com shows the standard way a motorcyclist would wear the gas mask. I don't recognize the strap in your photo. I suspect it is some kind of Czech strap but beyond that - no idea. NH
Nope, all branches used the standard wear method; also the strap prevents it from opening fast enough.
Leonardo is quite correct. The strap covers the spring loaded pull tab to open the canister. No way that would be allowed because it would hamper the effort to pull the mask out as stated. Is there a stamp mark on the leather? I think I see some kind of mark but I cannot open the photo. NH
