These painted pieces of wood are nothing special in themselves but they are still part of the German Occupation of the Island of Jersey. They were only taken down from the stable walls 2 years ago where they had been for the last 65 + years. The names of the horse's are clear to see and I am always on the look out for horse saddles withthe same name painted on them...its always possible. Also in the lot is a painted number, this is in fact the number or should I say feldpost number for "Stab Pi Btl 319" which was here on the Island. Luckily these unremarkable pieces of wood were salvaged before they went on the fire.

That Satan horse name plate would display well with my original Bathory yellow goat vinyl (Look it up, its pretty rare!)

One can only imagine how difficult a steed Satan was to break. But surely his number should have been 666...?

Lol - '922' was the German code number for 666.........!

It's amazing that they were left up for so long,
and this I find remarkable - Great pieces !

Such things do exist here still. In places it is still possible to see where the Germans painted on walls the numbers for the road number system that they used.... they are fading for sure and won't survive another 20 years but they are still there now. its things like these horse names/numbers that keep the hunt alive.... there is always something else out there to find.
