Could anyone tell me anything about this plate please..trying to find out which Battalion etc it would have been connected too.

I believe the M indicates Kriegsmarine. I don't think you 'll narrow it down much more than that.

I've seen plates like these for sale on the internet for 20-30 euros, a dealer in Berlin was asking 30 euros.

It is a Kriegsmarine plate. At least it is an original one:-). About the prices - there is no market price. I have many III Reich plates but I would not sell them for the $20-30 each. Well, it is the price of a dinner in not so good restaurant. Prices are very low today so better keep it.
