I have always wondered about the green and orange cups. I am not well versed in plastic manufature, but obviously the colors come from some sort of dye ingredient. From a tactical point of view, they would have been better off leaying them clear.
I think this will always be one of the minor TR mysteries.
    Thanks for sharing the pics.

Nice cup! your right copies of these cups are being made. Easy way to spot due to matirial code is for type of bakelite used on black cups(code S)insead of the correct one which is K, for what is believed to be a matirial made with urine as an ingredient!!!!!!!!! Copies of butter/fat dishies are also being made. In both cases they are lighter in weight of originals.
For more info on the codes go to the link suggested by Adrian at the start of the field equipment forum.

Never seen this type of orange cup! Some years ago I was searching the battlefields here in France with my metaldetector and came across a trashpit. Some farmer had dumped some 88mm rounds in a hole which I dugg out. In the hole I also found some K98k amo pouches and bajo frogs, but also this strange black cups I didn't know. I thought they must be post war and just left them there. Later I found out they where late war cups for on the canteens, and went right back to collect them. Luckely they where still there! I have them in my collection now.
