I was celebrating Independence Day at my dear old Aunties. She said "I got something for ya" and pulled out this sweet German map case which belonged to my grandfather. There was a long leather wallet in it which had his notebook with some German words translated, and some addresses of other family members who were in the War, including my Great Uncle Milt who was killed in the Pacific Theatre.

That medal is a Marksman Badge, not a Combat Infantry Badge. I have his CIB which he turned into a bracelet with his name and serial number. Here's a pic of the back and the maker's stamp (?) and date.

A couple of rough images from his notebook. Including some German words translated (I think), and some radio code. He was a radio man and drove a halftrack.

And, why not, here's a picture of my Grandfather. I think that case he's carrying is his camera case. Hope you enjoyed, rick

    Hi Rick, super items!

One small correction: the US badge is the Expert Infantryman's Badge. First awarded in 1943.

    Cheers, Ade.
