Hello, just spent £18 on this lot in my local antique shop. I could see that the water bottle drinking cup was German WW2 but the mess kit is unmarked (apart from what are presumably owners initials), and I know this type was used by other nations and made postwar. Is it German WW2 also? Many thanks, Doug

Well it looks WW2 German and from what i can find AWC made WW2 mess tins (for Germany) and the 42 on the end of HRE means 1942 (I think).
    Best Regards Matt

On the look out for original ww2 M26 Adrian helmet liner.

Its a stamp I think HRE is the makers code? but I am sure the 42 is 1942 so you have what looks like a good WW2 German mess tin (the lid is a different colour though so ? )

The mess tin is combined - lid is different than kettle. However it seems to be late war production (I have similar signed with 1944)

    Hello,

Both parts are late war production.
The color of the lid is usually found on M44 messkits.
