I bought this German Ammo Box!

It look's like it was used postwar by the norwegian army. They were used for 30-06 (7.62) ammunition.
I believe that they were converted, by widening the box a bit.

Indeed, I didn't even notice that, but it looks like the box was reworked to make it wider.... do you have a picture of the opened box from above ?

I did know that a lot of K98's were converted to .30-06 but this is the 1st time I see such a reworked Gurtkasten
