German entrenching tool cover. Is this cover original? It appears to be made from artificial leather which is the norm for late war issue I think. It's marked with the Maker's mark fkx 43. The tool I've been told looks like ww1 Belgian.

Hello,
It is a good variant of the pressed cardboard shovel cover, with both belt loops sewn at the back instead of being "sandwiched" between the front and back parts that form the cover as usually seen. Does also exist in yellow pressed cardboard.
