The Yoke is also a good period item, but on the first set of pictures displayed here the rear strap is different and looked like a post-war czech piece, explaining why I got confused.

I have a set and always worried about them as you don't mention the type in your book.

To me this is a mid-war / late-war variation that can be seen from time to time, just like some very late bread bag straps have simplified extremities made of crude bent wire instead of the usual hooks.
Sorry I muddied the waters by adding the Y straps to the separately purchased rucksack without explaining.
