Sorry to reply to such an old thread but the engravings on this Leica are absolutely correct for a KM camera, in combination with the correct wartime body it seems a good candidate to be genuine. I will check the serial number, it’s possible to find out where or to who it was delivered. The Kriegsmarine didn’t have a set of rules of engraving equipment like cameras they were often engraved by the engraver on the ship. That’s why you see so many different types of eagles on smaller KM equipment (mostly on cameras, binoculars and pocket watches). We still don’t really know what the mf number stands for, probably an inventory number. I will update if we can find more from the serial number.
The engraving on the lens doesn’t look that good but it’s hard to see from these photos.
