    Default metal ammo box (?)

    hi All,

just got this the other day...looked like an interesting item, 'thou not 100% sure what it was used for...my best guess: to be mounted on /in some kind of vehicle - since it's fairly small (13 x 8.5 x 8 cm), maybe to store 98K ammo (?)
WaA mark & some other manuf. stamping on the front / left bottom part...the painting seems original.
    any clue?

No inserts in the box ??

My guess would be, small tools on a canon (these kind of boxes were attached to the shield), but that's just a guess.....)

With the two "through" bolt fixing holes, I don't think it is for ammo.
More than likely a fixed mount vehicle box for tools or something similar.

    hey everybody,

the metal box arrived this week...
still not sure what they kept in it, (small tools for FLAK sound good 'thou), it came empty - nice paint still everywhere to be found.

for size compare, I've put a round of 98k on top...

    very cool...Thanks!

"The company had a close relationship to the Nazi regime with Göring, purchasing a majority stake in June 1938.[2]
Rheinmetall built the MG 42, the Wehrmacht's main general-purpose medium machine gun. Its successor, the MG3, is still used by the Bundeswehr, as well as other armies."
