    Hello Alec,
Yes they have similarities, like some boots that were produced prewar and postwar...private purchased boots is a tough matter, that's why it's better to favour regulation examples. And remember that if you want to depict an officer wearing breeches, you don't necessarily need private purchased boots and can use EM/NCO riding boots, which are taller than marching boots and can be worn with spurs (a leather tab is placed above the heel at the rear of the boot to support the spur). They're nice and versatile in the sense that you can use them to depict a lot of EM/NCO or Officers from various branches...horses in great amount were still used in the german army so the riding boots were worn within the majority of branches of service. Useless to speak about all those who did wear them without being allowed to...
    Thanks

    Hello JPhilip,
I shall be aiming to buy from now on, only regulation EM / NCO boots, seems to be the simplest solution, less chance (I hope) of tripping up and buying wrong civilian boots. I've learn't from this thread the lesson, to do proper research, before jumping in, believing what the seller says, you only end up getting shafted, sometimes deservedly so.
    Best Wishes
    Alec
