    hi, got one the same in a military auction many years ago the story goes that it was found in a box brand new stocked with a load of them copleat with lead and plug, a great peace of equipment if i say so my self, well done

    Just for the sake of accuracy (and apologies as this is just one of those little things that nags at me), Bakelite is actually a plastic. Plastic is a general term for a whole range of mouldable materials, whereas Bakelite is a trade name for one specific type, namely, poly-oxy-benzyl-methylenglycol-anhydride
