Here is my small collection of mess tins, most of the being slightly different variations to each other, from left-right top-bottom

    AWF 39 matching set

AWG 40 lid EMK 41 base with securing strap

    HRE 42 matching set

L&SL 43 matching set (steel mess kit with red base primer showing in areas)

FWBN 44 lid EEF 44 base with securing strap present.

If anybody can shed and light on the reason for the metal tag on the mess kit dated hre42 i would be very grateful. It has been on their since i aquired it and im not sure of its purpose it has the number 24 on it.My German mess tin collectionMy German mess tin collection

    Hello,
this is a nice goal to reach....
I do own one or several examples for each year between 1935 and 1945 (only year still missing is 1936).
    Carry on the good work....
The tag "24" is perhaps related to a PoW.
    Thanks
