Need help! WW2 items?

Hello I need help to find out what these items are. I don't even know if they are from ww2. I found them in the forests outside of Foy, Belgium laying on the surface. Is it worth cleaning them up? If so I could really use some tips how to clean them.

It's to carry US 3 shells for mortar.
When in good condition, there is a white marking. don't clean it because it's easy to find.

If you really found it in Foy, leave them for what they are...... just for yourself
