    Not matching, but still a nice early one....
    The red bottle does not belong to an early one... it should be alu, but these are pretty easy to find....
    These red enamelled bottles belong to 43/44 ones.

    is the cover and / or strap dated ?

    so i assume it was all put together by the seller? could this be done in the field?

    things get damaged on active service and so get changed.

    I've got a picture somewhere of at least 45 kochgeschirr lids neatly lined on a table waiting for the soldieres to have their lunch...and I SERIOUSLY doubt that EACH and EVERY lid went back on its original mess tin!Further....this red,late canteen may have been with the 36-dated cup well before May 8th 1945, but we'll never know for sure if it's like that or if these pieces have been put together more recently!Too bad the cup isn't named to the same soldier!
