The length of the cartridge is 80 mm and the caliber 17 mm. What type of gun would this have been shot with?

Hmm the number 17 is only an factory mark.
The shell is an airplane MG 151 20 mm i suppose of your foto.
The mark P 490 is the factory of Hugo Schneider A. G. Werk Altenburg.
