Z4,
Cool, haven't seen one with a swaz on the base. Looks good.

I must admit I have not seen another one, I looked for ages on the net but found nothing.
When I was a kid I had a thing about flashlight's so I had to buy it.
My latest toy is playing with my carbide lamp, due to this site I stumbled on a bloke with some carbide in tins and I've actually got the bloody thing going, without blowing up the house! I will keep it for BBQs etc.

I have one in my garage its for a bicycle made by Lucas.
This one is bakelite and works well, I have a bike one that I posted here some where and a couple of metal ones in ordinace tan colour. I tried the baklite as it was the best looking and no paint to damage. Might fire it up and put some photos on.
Jock
I have never seen a Bakelite one, I will take a look when you post it Jock.
Z4,
As promised some photos of the Baklite Karbide lamp, went camping up by Lubeck with the boy wife and dogs.
It went well and I didn't burn anything down or blow anything up!
I was missing the rubber seal that is key to keeping the gas in the resivoure. I borrowed one from the museum in Celle together with a photo copy of the instructions.
It is very bright and it does not flicker like a candel.
It went for 9 hours before I put it out, addmittedly it was pretty well out, only glowing orange.
Burns with a slight hiss but not a tactical issue if your shinning it around and smells a little bit like farts.
On the whole an interesting experiment.

Jock
Thanks for uploading the pics Jock,I have not seen a lamp of that type before.
