Well it has a name and the other writing is a date...2 May 1945....war ends or ended...I'm curious about the use of a sig rune as a "S" in his name though.....maybe it belonged to this soldier and he marked it for posterity
Could that be RAD written with his name....maybe he belonged to the Reichs Arbeitdienst
Speculation for the sig rune could be just an over keen and proud serviceman

Ah, thank you for the correction. What would one value something like this at?
Thanks!

Are they similar to the clips on the 1 later water bottles? The cross hatch marking looks similar to ones on those canteens

Hello,
It is a RAD Tornister patterned after the WWII Tornister.
IMO the Sig rune could refer to the Hitlerjugend as a reminder of the owner's time of service in this organisation before joining the RAD.
Thanks

Tornister packs sell for about 75 to 125 US dollars. More for mint examples. It depends on the condition, presence of straps and perhaps markings. I'm not sure where your example lands but I would guess in the range just described. NH

Both were used I believe.
The Affe came in different models, one without these straps that could be hooked to the Y strap, and this model that could be used without the Y straps. The hooks could be connected to the D rings at the bottom of the Affe, or to the loops on the belt. They also cold be hooked to the amo pouches if worn.
