The Kar 98 pouch ( Patronentaschen 98K ) designated the M1911 was produced in three general variations the open loop style that is posted in the top photo is IMO a transitional pouch as I dont believe the hardware is aluminum which would put the production of this pouch starting in 1940 earlier examples had all aluminum hardware and in 1940 they switched to mixed aluminum and steel or all steel hardware The pouch on the bottom is a late war manufactured pouch which first started to appear in 1941 with the closed style belt loop and steel harware was used through out late war pouches are generaly found dated 1942-1944 with examples of 1941 dated pouches being rare.
