Thoughts on German (?) Boots

Article about: Hi guys. I picked up these recently and got the story that they were german and that they were brought back by a US visitor of the Olympics in 1936. Thoughts?

Car and Glenn, As I expected there was no answer from Helix. German firms with a history in the Third Reich era have never returned my emails regarding products from that time. For example, Hildebrand (confectioners) have a web site with the founding date listed as 1954. I have two tins from the TR era including one marked Wehrmacht Packung so I know they were in existence prior to 1954! No answer from them either to my inquiry. You should post photos of your Helix Reitstiefel as a comparison. NH

Glenn, Do you think Helix would get back to me? The pair I have are marked with some kind of award logo from 1937. I can only find importers of Helix on the web - not the parent company. NH
If you're going to give them a shout Neil, could you ask if they make 8" stiletto heeled thigh high riding boots?? They're for a lady friend of mine, men's size 12 please.

Ned, Hmmmm, size 12 men's? Guess your "friend" will have to look elsewhere! ; ) All kidding aside, I am disappointed the Helix folks don't seem to want to respond to my inquiry. I would just like to have some idea of when the boots were manufactured. If they are post war I wonder why they would continue to include a reference to 1937 Grand Prix. Curious. NH

Why do Jack Daniels reference various gold medals they have won on their merchandise as far back as 1914?? It's all to do with advertising, and let's face it, Helix probably don't want to be associated with anything that happened in the period 1939-45, and it may therefore not be surprising that they don't deign to reply to requests about that time period or anything else relating to National Socialism and their part, however small it may be, within that time scale.

    Regards, Ned.
