two german shovels

Just want to show my 2 newcomers - " Rex 1943"and "ekz"without an year marking.My question is about the handles (lever?). The black one - modern repainting (ekz marked) is with a bit shorter handle and looks diferent in the ballshaped end of the hendle. Is it chanched or is posible to be original one?

Both look period German ww2 to me I think handle lengths varied from manf to manf I have had some with varied lengths nice ones with maker code often seen on the non folding ones. timothy
