I have NEVER seen one of these would this be issued to all troops or meteorological specialists if so would they be part of regular troops.
I would have thought the luftwaffe would have handled weather ?
Just a little confused because i have not seen and assume this is not standard issue it makes me wonder who used this Psychrometer.

That instrument was not designed with a specific military intent. Rudolf Fuess was an internationally famous precision scientific instrument maker who died in 1917. His son took over the business, but I do not know what eventually happened to the firm. But, I do know that instruments manufactured by the company are in great demand among collectors of scientific instruments and command high prices. As for its use, a Psychrometer is better known as a wet and dry thermometer and comes in various forms, among them a sling Psychrometer and a whirling Psychrometer. Meteorologist use them and they are very common in the heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) industry for determining the proper refrigerant for charging residential and commercial air conditioning systems. If you are looking for a military application, you would most likely find it in the Navy where wet and dry bulb temperatures are recorded in a ship's log. But as to that specific example you have, I seriously doubt that it was a military item. It is, none-the-less very valuable. Dwight
