Wehrmacht map case
Hi guys, thought I would share this map case that was given to me by a veteran about 10 years ago. The veteran served in a regiment (he said he couldn't remember which one - or perhaps he just didn't want to tell me?) and was captured in Normandy, on the 20th August 1944, in the Falaise Pocket.
After being captured he managed to keep hold of this and, during his time in a POW camp in the UK, he told me that he wrapped It up and buried it, so nobody would steal it! After being released he ended up marrying a local girl and settled in the UK. I've covered his name, which he wrote on the inside of the flap, with my camera lens cap (for privacy's sake, as he is still alive).
Cheers,
Tom
