I do not know how the watch could be associated with the whermact. Just a stop watch.

I found this on a German forum, it's the same as yours but your example is missing the outer cover. One of the members on the site says it's a Kriegsmarine item and he thinks for timing torpedoes, from what he stated it looks like you were right!...

I am not sure: I am no expert on these, but I would have expected a KM one to be marked as such? Clocks certainly are, so why not watches?
